Hey everyone, so I just installed a newer junkyard motor in my 74 after the old motor met its unfortunate end. My problem lies in the fact that the accelerator pump on the carb doesn't seem to be pushing enough fuel. If I give it any real amount of gas it bogs down hard, and I need to pump the gas once or twice to get enough fuel into the intake to actually be able to put my foot down without the engine cutting out. Is there any way I can have the accelerator pump push more fuel through to avoid this? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

It's a 20R, and maybe. What kind of choke is it?

I think the 20R carb is a water choke, not sure about the 22R one

Alright man thanks. I'll look into the issue a bit more and report back, maybe that's just what I'll end up doing.

Isn't bogging a sign of too much fuel?

As far as I'm aware I've seen it on both lean and rich. Did some work and have mainly figured out the problem. However I have a new problem. The idle fuel cut solenoid wire broke and I've got it rigged for the time being to just work alright. I checked rockauto and couldn't find anything, anyone here have one?

Thanks a bunch man! That part is discontinued but I fortunately do manage to have an extra. I have to admit though, since I had the extra I took the time to experiment with the current one. The truck runs fine if you put your finger over the hole the solenoid is in, and still turns off fine as well as you cut power to the coil. So I cut off the solenoid end of the mechanism that was broken and put it back and the thing runs better than ever. I think I had a loose connection so the solenoid was actuating on and off and I wasn't getting enough fuel for idle.
