I have already tried removing the studs and i cant reach a couple. I also snapped one off and will have to take care of that when the engine is out.
Everything is already detached from the engine and parts are on order to replace my leaking injectors. My jack broke and have to invest in a new one as well :rolleyes2:

I read from the bottom up...

"The truck was fun while it lasted."....

Scared the s**t out of me!!!

Thought something serious happened to your truck, lol.

Broke jack, leaking fuel, broken stud....it could always be worse! Could have caught fire?!

Yes i got lucky. I took my truck by my work place and thats when a technician noticed the injector leaking. I managed to make it home where i noticed the fuel was making it to the floor. I immediately shut the truck off since im open headers and shooting out flames

Yup there was definately a problem here. The fuel rail spacers were cracked so the rail wasnt lined up correctly.

Here is how my fuel lines are setup and alot of dust and dirt! Its hard keeping my engine clean where i live.

Here is a small clip of the truck running again. No more leaking fuel injectors!
I also took her around the block and everything seems to be ok now.

Ive been enjoying the truck. She breaks necks. I started working on a battery box to relocate the battery to the bed. Made to fit a 27f battery and im currently running a 24F

There hasnt been much done to the truck. I recently picked up a welder and started practicing.
Here is the finished battery box just bolted together.[IMG]

I cut the top center section of my core support off and started making a new one that would hold the radiator and can be removed to make it easier to remove the engine in the future.

Mishimoto pusher fan arrived. Going to be using 2 of these. Fan is 2.5 inches tall.

Welding is the best skill to learn when building cars. It will help you become more creative when solving problems and also save you so much money in building things yourself.
    :waytogo:

    Nice work!

I'm thinking of relocating my battery to the bed also. The small honda civic battery I run in my truck fits perfectly snug in an old metal military ammunition case I have.

Ive had ideas before but could not do them because i didint have a welder.

Inside diameter of the fans is 11.5 inches. This tool for my grinder is 5.75 inches from corner to the center of the hole where its bolted. Also welded bolts to the back so i can mount the fans
    [IMG]

Perfect circles just had to measure twice
    [IMG]

    Fan mounted.

    Then made the hole.

Radiator mounted to make sure everything fits.

Made some mounts for the hood latch from old nuts and bolts. Welded them to the new radiator support.

Looks good but make sure you tie the latch in with a strap from it to the bottom of the core support just like the factory did. The lift generated by the hood at highway speed will flex and stress those two bolts until they snap on you at speed. The hood flying up on the highway will ruin your day. Simple 1 inch wide flat stock will work great if you cant use the original.

    BTW
As you fabricate more, check out McMaster Carr. They have alot of cool stuff. Some metric threaded standoffs or treaded spacers would have been great to use to space out the latch also.

I have made the 3rd support its just not in this picture. It only goes to the center of the support. Ill definitely check them out next time.

In light of this, you you recommend using
bolts instead of studs for the exhaust manifolds? My concern would be having to constantly tighten exhaust bolts due to backing out.

Don't use bolts because they back out like you said. Its just part of this swap i guess. I ended up replacing the broken studs with new ones and bought a special socket to remove them in the future.

Just ordered the 2nd radiator fan and an adjustable fan controller from mishimoto. There is a port on my radiator that is capped off on the passenger side, hopefully the thermostat will work there so I wont have to buy an inline adapter.
