I have had my 95 Toyota Hilux for one year with absolutely no problems to date. Besides new tires and regularly scheduled oil changes I have needed to do very little and she runs like a champ... except for a strange and intermittent issue that seems to be getting worse. For several months it has been randomly losing power. It tends to do it most often when my foot is softly on the gas at the top of a hill. It sort of jerks forward and backward for a few seconds and then returns to normal. The RPM's do not seem to change, although I do not have a tachometer so don't know for sure. That isn't to say it only does it in this situation, it's just that 9 times out of 10 when I've plateau'd over a hill it will act up. I have taken it in to get a "tune up"- I think I got hustled on that one. I have also replaced the spark plugs and the fuel filter, but neither did anything to fix the problem. Any suggestions? I've been told it might be the distributor cap? I haven't the slightest idea.
