I have a 1989 DLX and I'm swapping in a LSX engine. I'm wanting to change the rear end. Mine has a 7.5" ring and pinion want to change to 8" and have Supra LSD installed. Have looked far and near for one without ABS and a decent price can only locate one that has ABS. Is it a problem to delete the ABS and will my axles, drums etc. from the 7.5" rear end fit the 8" rear end for the rear end swap.
The axles and housings are different between 7.5 and 8" differentials. You will need the entire housing. You can also read up on the explorer 8.8" rear end. If you go to http://www.trail-gear.com/product/5079/v6-differential-freeze-plug-760-dia#.V9i6sBJwtwo you will see the size of freeze plug you need to plug the hole in the rear end where the speed sensor used to be. Or, just leave the sensor there unplugged and be done.
