I just bought a 1980 Toyota pickup that never had a catalytic converter. I was told when I go to get the emissions checked it, they will say it's supposed to have a converter...in their book it will say that Toyota made the '80 truck with a converter. Why is that? Was that the transition year and some had them and some didn't? Is there some info online I could print out and bring to the inspection that would tell them that my truck never had one? Thanks for any info!
I dont miss the cali emmisions at all. Looking through my catalogs it shows that the cats were for cali emmisions and noise restrictions. Also always make sure the previous owners smog the truck before buying one in a state that requires the trucks to pass smog checks. Pm me your vin and i can send you some stuff.
