anyways I went digging through my rubber made tubs of sh!!t and found a couple of speakers and thought I could use a little sound. so one thing lead to another
got it all gutted and cleaned up

started layin the peel and seal sounddeadner and I ran out so I had to through my driver seat back in and go get more and with it not done I could really hear a diferance

new carpet and got the seats back in and its nice not getting all the road noise coming off the floor now along with some tunes that I can hear

sents I did this kinda on a wim I ordered up more carpet to cover the box after I finished it

I lost about an inch and half because I screwed up my masurements
on my side peices because I forgot to subtract the 3/4 inch for the face board and the 3/4 inch for the rings that I made for the 12's so they wouldn't bottom out aginst the cab

I did my cab+ the back wall for $45 with that seal n peal stuff from lowes
a budy of mine had a box of dynamat and the seal n peal is very compearable for a lot less

I started with a roll that was about room temp(about 65') but it was hard to get it to streach and lay flat so I took it and put it in the bathroom where I could turn the heat up i let it set in there for about an hour with the heat up over 85 it made it very plyable and it seamed even stikier and I rubbed it out with my hand not the roller I had started with

I went and looked for a new head unit this morning
I haven looked at car stereo gear in years wow its came a long ways I was thinking of a cd player with an ipod hook up hell Im seeing most of the units have a usb port witch makes it a lot easier sents I've already downloaded over 600 cd's to a flash drive now I just need to decided what I want and how much I'M GOING TO SPEND

i have run pioneer head units for years. i love their menus and functions. even their ~$150 level decks have remotes, F/R/S preouts at a decent voltage (3-5v), and can control an ipod directly from the deck. so it gets a high quality signal as well as transfering the tag data (track title, artist, ect). i still mount the ipod in an easy to get to area because with nearly 10k songs, its easier to find an artist through there than through the deck, due to let skipping in the scroll.

did you have a back wall of the box, or let it seal to the cab itself? i thought about that idea to save on 3/4" of inner build thickness since i wont have much space at all behind my seat. and ive driven a few slider clicks forward and do not like it at all. the 78 cabs are tiny.

i do like that box alot. it looks good. and those MR2 seats are probably the most comforable ones ive ever owned. had a set in my 92...and i didnt move even when flippin rockfords and doin donuts.

ill be building my own box soon, and did a carpet/foam pad install last week. it cut down noise alot too. i also foam filled my pillars.

bring it out to the next show. should be fun.

I didnt put a back wall in the box I just shoved it tight to the wall of the cab I welded tabs so I could bolt the box in if you look at the pic with the s&p on you can see the tabs

    here's the pic

I did the box in my 87 the same way but with a little better trim to fit this time along with some other things to make it better
and in my 87 each sub had 600+watts and audio gear has came a long ways in 23years so I wont be needing that much power to drive my system this time
