Truck's been sort of lurching and sputtering when i'm in low gears/just switched gears. Feels like it needs more fuel. I just rebuilt the carb - this let me (barely) pass smog finally YAY! But, the sputtering issue remains. I'm "running real lean" says my mechanic. Mechanic suggested pulling the two (jets? I can't remember the name right now) and boring them out sliiightly wider so more fuel gets through. What would be your suggestions to fix this? I'm hoping to start with the easiest/most DIY friendly option and move up from there. Thanks!
YOguyDA – Yes, I think so. it never dies out once warm. Starting from cold takes a little pumping of the gas and a few ignition turns to get it going..
Honestly i have no clue how the stock carbs work. With the weber i just hit the gas pedal once to set the choke cam then start it.
The issue with 22r's is they're so simple, yet the emmisions crap all over them can complicate things. It's hard to really point you in the right direction, other than saying "research, understand and figure out".... What did your truck "barely" pass on emissions? Pm me your email and I can send you a fsm I have.
Also, I wouldn't recommend boring anything out in the stock carb...it should run the best the way it was designed from the factory.
