Hello all, I've started riding dirtbikes more and got sick of strapping dirtbikes/fourwheelers to the roof of my BMW e30, so I decided to buy a truck. I initially wanted an early first gen Tacoma to supercharge, but that proved too expensive for me. I love cars with character, so I picked up this '74 Hilux short bed. Until a few years ago it was a farm truck in South Carolina, so the only real rust is underneath the battery and the front of the cab corners. It has a 20R swapped in, it's lowered on Mighty Max front uprights with disc brakes and has 2" lowering blocks in the back. In the month that I've owned it, I swapped the clapped out bench seat for a set of Porsche Recaros, put down a rubber floor in the cab, got a set of grills for it and tidied some wiring up on it. I'm currently working on piecing together a full exhaust system (header to tailpipes). Next on the list is casting my own custom bump stops so I can get some suspension travel again, which I'll make a thread about (where should I post this??) In the future I'd like to build my own front end for it (suspension/subframe/steering). The reason for this is I'd like to get as much suspension travel as I can while still staying low, and I desperately want more steering angle. I'd like to 4 link the back eventually because I irrationally hate leaf springs... I also wouldn't mind IRS, but no matter what I do I need to get an LSD in it. I'm undecided yet how much power I want, so haven't decided if I'm gonna stick with the 20R or swap something else in. I'm stoked to enter the mini truck scene!!
Thanks! I had them lying around before I bought the truck, and as soon as I saw the truck I knew they'd look perfect sitting in there. I cut up some Mitsubishi Galant seat mounts from a junkard until they tucked up onto the seats tidily and fit the floor.
I bought it online from a company called american floor mats. I think its actually floor matting for like in a factory. The thinnest cross section in the bottom of the pattern is 1/8", and prolly gets to be as thick as 3/16" at the top of the bumps. It wasn't cheap (~$130 to the door), but I wanted a removable rubber floor and couldn't find anything for much cheaper that I liked.
