Just wanted to let anyone know if they were thinking about putting a/c in their truck, that the 4runner a/c would work but you would need to pull everything thing. Also you would need to modify the bracket to squeeze the 4runner condenser since its alot taller than the pickups. They would also need to change the connector from the 4runner to pickup. Parts list- Evap box Heater Core Blower motor A/c Lines Condenser I chose not to do this converstion since i was able to find all the parts i need for ac in my pickup. This post is just an FYI in case someone was interested in doing this.
I've wondered about this as I dig through 4runners in the wrecking lot. I have heard that AC was an add on option, and I've noticed in my truck there's a spot and electrical connector for the AC button, but looking at the 4runner setup it does look like there's some extra plugs that I don't have, so is that what you mean by changing the connector? So is your third pic with all the stuff in the bed the setup from a pickup or from a 4runner?
Ok, so everything from the 4runner would work, you would just need to change out everything...heater core, evap, and even the blower motor. On the 4runner the condenser is alot bigger so you would need to modify the front part of the frame. Also you would need to grab the pigtail from the 4runner since that connector is different. I believe all our truck come wired for ac already. The pictures in the back of the truck are from the 4runner.
You know, I'm such a pos. I posted a question for exactly this conversation like a week ago. Only truck action replied. I'm upset that with all the time I spend here I hadn't seen this yet. Glad you did the hard work for me man
I've done this swap with great success. I'll post details later on. Only thing weird I had to use is a T100 evaporator.
1. 4Runner core support, condenser and radiator. 2. 89-95 Pickup AC compressor with 4Runner manifold (part that hoses mount to on top of compressor). 3. 4Runner hoses, both High and Low side. 4. T100 Evaporator core 5. 4Runner expansion valve. All this uses the factory Pickup HVAC box.
