Alright so I've had this truck for a while now, and I'm finally making my build thread. I had a toolbox and some tools up for trade on CL for about two years, and had a few decent offers but nothing promising. So one day I get a call from a guy who says he's got a 1975 green Toyota he wants to trade for my toolbox, And I'm like wtf green??? ummm sure I'll check it out. He brought her over and I fell in love. Anyways I ended up trading some cash and tools for the truck. I daily drove her for 2 years, now she lives in the garage and I take her out on nice days. I haven't done a whole lot yet, de-nigged some stuff under the hood, rear brakes and slaves and all new hardware. Then my clutch exploded, and while I was waiting for the machine shop to open to resurface the flywheel, I took advantage of the down time and did some serious polishing to get rid of all the water spots since the po let it sit outside for the 4 years they had it. I'll post more later heres a few pics for now.
wish I knew... The original owner put those on. I'm eventually gonna need a new set one got broken when some dumb chick hit me in a parking lot. Not sure where the pic is atm but its cracked on the inside
So anyways as the story continues, got the new clutch in and everything was great until the flywheel bolts sheered in the crankshaft. So there I am stuck, my choices (this was my only vehicle at the time) get a new crankshaft and do a bottom end rebuild or do a complete motor swap. After talking to some buddies with wheelers I picked up a 22re with a centerforce clutch, unfortunately the harness was incomplete and incorrect... so now I'm farther up **** creek. Luckily my uncle had a 22r that he had rebuilt and bored out as far as it would go sitting in his garage with 0 miles. bought it from him and began the swap. The whole process took a week, it was not fun at all. I was driving 35 miles every night after work to my buddies house where I had the truck towed to. In the middle of our freak snow storm. we did all the work outside in the freezing ass cold and I didn't have time for a clean install which sucks but nonetheless got it done. and that pretty much brings the work up to date. She runs fantastic and has great power, but with the 4 speed I'm limited to 80mph and she's screaming lol. In the very near future plans are; install the w58 I picked up find a supra lsd third and have a new one piece driveline made rebuild front end with poly bushings suspension all the way around different wheels and tires so I can put some drop on her. Thinking about some weld scorpio 16" aluminum rims if I can find a set and have a mirror polish done. pull engine back out and clean up the bay and tidy things up like radiator hoses and wires since I didn't have the time to do it right.
some more pics of how bad the snow was, fortunately didn't hit until the engine was in place, but nothing else hooked up. and a before and after shot of the back window. the nade sticker and the peace signs were gone the first week I had the truck. garbage had to go lol.
Getting ready to finally get back to working on the old girl. Been busy with a couple of other toys. Picked up an 84 x-cab 2wd 22r that is now my daily, and an 88 std. cab 4x4 and have been tinkering on them. Since the last post I have done a just a handful of things, replaced wheel bearings, and threw on a set of cheapie shocks to help the ride. I did however get some new Foose Legends wheels 18" rear 17" front. More to come this spring after taxes, and I'll most likely be selling the 4x4. I originally bought it for an EFI swap onto this truck since the motor is fresh and had 0 miles.
That truck is so clean. Do what you can to salvage the flares, you wont be finding those new anywhere
