I'm working on a 72 hilux and I've come across a 78 hilux for a parts truck for really cheap. Are any of the parts from a 78 compatible with my 72? Fenders? Hood? Anything ? Please let me know

Ive been told the fenders and hood are indentical. Pretty sure the tail lights are the same and some interior pieces. Not sure about doors or glass. I know for sure the grill(duh), valance, headlight buckets, front bumper, core support, cab, and bed are different.

78 has disc brakes up front so i take the whole spindle.

Thanks a lot man ! That's helps a lot. The front spindle idea sounds like a must.

if it's 72, 2nd gen truck I think everything should swap except for the cab and bed - the 75+ got a longer cab, which made the bed shorter in the front.

It is a first gen 72 . so prolly just the Fenders will interchange is what I'm assuming. Which is what I need actually. And I would love to use the front spindles off the 78 for the disc brakes.

Pretty sure the fenders are different for the 1st gen, so basically nothing body-wise will swap over.

I dunno about disc brakes, I want to say you'll need to do some fabrication it won't be a direct swap.

from What ive read the spindles and brakes are a direct swap for the front end. Supposedly the chassis is the same so more might swap over.

Body wise nothing will swap over. Different bodies. BUT if you do pinch any parts let me know, i need a passenger side fender if it aint all beat up and rusty

I'll check the fender out for you Monday. If it looks good I'll send u pics of it and we can make it happen . I have access to the whole truck. Me and my best friend run a salvage yard but unfortunately that's the only one we have :(

The 1st gen. trucks are an oddity. They don't resemble ANY of the other generations in look and style.

The body parts will NOT interchange with any other model - which sucks as I would LOVE to have some spare fenders and a spare bed.

Yeah, the spindles/brakes are a direct swap. My truck has the discs from the 2nd Gen on it.
