What would a good price to ask for my truck? it is a 1984 extra cab all custom and has the 18RG engine.
In that part of our country you will never get $10,000 for a early Toyota truck! The EFI 22RE engine would be better, but sill!! And I personally don't see a custom truck, sorry! $2,00 TO $ 3,000 would be a more realistic price range!! Hope you get a buyer & a good price!!
Thank you for the info this was my uncles truck and was parked for 10+ years didn't have a clue how to price it.
It has the yamaha head with 11111-88253 which from what I could find is the 18RG I don't know how to check 100% though
From the picture, it is obviously one of the variants of the 18RG. It looks like it has the carburetor balance tube which means it is probably an 18RGU. The most interesting version is the early 18RG (no EU or U) but that particular version is kind of rare. Regardless, it is an 18RGU. However, it looks like the carbs are missing which is an extra $600 (for Webers) to $1200 (for rebuilt Mikunis). And if it hasn't been run for 10years it is probably seized up which means $$$ for rebuilding it with rare parts. A running 18RG might have gotten you close to your (earlier) $10k asking price but as it sits I think the $2k-3k people are mentioning is probably closer to reality. Edit: I see you lowered your asking price. That is probably a good price. Any buyer can turn around and sell the 18RG for $500~$1k.
What can I look at that will tell me 100% what it is and I am going to look for the carbs when I go up this weekend.
Here is some info: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/th...d-times-of-the-18R-G?highlight=tractor engine
Just had some guys from Australia tell me that the 88253 head is what makes it the 18RGU so learn something new about this thing everyday.
