I'm having an issue with just one of my brakes being applied, and then releases all on its own. I have an 86 extra cab. I've already replaced brake pads, the caliper twice, the soft hose going to the caliper, and the master cylinder. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, it doesn't always do this. It's very spuradic. Curvy road, straight road, with or without bumps. It doesn't matter, sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. But when it does, it causes me to look like I'm racing from a stop, just to be able to shift.
Did you lower your truck,if so there is a portioning valve that when a load is in the bed causes more front braking!! Remove it or bend the rod so does not apply more braking!!
It has 4" blocks worth of lowering. Lol. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the location would you? I've heard of this valve, but the only one I've ever been able to find is the 4x4 valve that's up in the bay.
Passenger side under the bed. Should look like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=toy...AUICCgC&biw=667&bih=331#imgrc=B48b5qLy8ehOcM:
Clearance and brake line by Nineteen86 posted Sep 16, 2016 at 7:09 PM @Hybrid240z I definitely do not have that valve. My hard line goes straight to soft line down to the axle back to hard line.
Okay, well. I have fixed the problem. Whether it be a long-term fix or short term I do not know. But I replaced the caliper once again. This is caliper number 4. But it's all good for now. Thanks guys for the inputs. Till next time, keep it classy.
