Looking for air shocks for my 1994 toyota pickup dropped 4 inches on blocks. Any suggestions?

 

If i knew id tell ya. All i can tell ya is theyre all black..?? idk...but they ride good haha.

 

I'm running the Gabriel highjackers (black).

I have heard the Monroe's are better...

I haven't treated mine right...I can't seem to hold pressure in one side (setup on separate air lines) and I can't find a leak. I'm suspecting a very slow Schrader valve leak. Anyways, instead of driving around with a lean, I will just empty the one that holds air and drive for months with 0psi in both sides.

I've exchanged them once at AZ, cus one was leaking oil. And I'm not impressed by the plastic Schrader valve bodies. Idk if Monroe's come with anything different.

So, this reply probably isn't much help, but I might switch to Monroe's to compare.

 

Im assuming i have Gabriels. Mine r ran to one line. They have no leaks as of now and hopefully wont anytime soon.

@YOguyDA..have u tried spraying everything down with soap and water? Pump it up to the max limit then spray the hell out of everything. Let it sit for awhile. Look for the bubbles bud

 

On and im lowered with 4" blocks and 3" leafs @jblaust.

 

Tried the soap and water...couldn't produce any bubbles. It might only leak while driving, so maybe I will have to jump around in the bed?

It appears both Gabriel and Monroe's come with plastic valves...I'm going to look into replacing with brass.

One of my valves a piece of the plastic broke off, so it's fun trying to get a good seal when airing up.

 

If u can get a hold to some cinder block and stack it up in the bed while you look for the leak. When i worked at the tire shop we had to leave the tire on the vehicle to find the leak sometimes. That extra weight helps find it.

 

You guys have any part numbers? Can't seem to find them for a 1994

If you ride with no air does it lower the trucks normal ride height?

 

I found some gabriel hi jackers at autozone for $68 shipped. Im runnning dropped shocks now all around. If I switch out to air shocks in the back and run them with little or no air will the ride height be lower than normal? How much adjustment do you guys have. Im hoping i can get the truck to sit 1 inch lower than it does now to level it out but still have the adjustability to raise it back up as needed when carrying a load in the back.

 

My research led me to Monroe ma727 for block lowering only and ma803 for leaf and leaf and block lowering.

 

I think those only work for the older gen pickups. 89-95 is a different shock.

 

I hope not, as I have 803s to install lol. I've read that you need to reuse the bushings from your shocks. Maybe that is the issue...

 

@Pickup..Mine came with them already on so i cant tell u exact number model
@jblaust..i never really measured it fully down or up..if i had to guess maybe 4"? Maybe more...not exactly sure...but seeing as to how BOTH my brake calipers locked up tonight...ill play with the shocks tomorrow night n let u know lol

 

803s have a different size hole in the bushing. Theyre like 3-4mm larger than the 727s

I remember it going higher then that but guess not.bit then again my compressor wasnt fully aired up...plus im not sure the max psi on these shocks so i wont pushn it..especially the way this brake job is going...brake pads turned into brake pads, calipers, master cylinder...smh..gotta love it
