    I just Traded MY 1990 3.0 SR5 V6 with a welded diff and plenty of dents.......
    short bed, Extended Xtra Cab...with the front axle and some components for it in the bed.
    with of course A Clean title and current REG...
    drove it to trade and got towed back.

    for a 1973 Short-bed short cab.
    with of course/ALSO Current Reg and even fresher tags!
    not in "excellent condition" given...
    I got this older Pre-Smog Pickup to modify as a Camper/Motor-home or Cab-over Hauling Pickup.
    A Micro Motor-home...

    What Say YOU To THIS Trade;-?
    I gotta work on the 73 to drive it/rust in the gas.-got in the Carb?

    Straight trade/other arranged towing.

    update from the next mourning...third pic of this 73 show's the sway-bar.......it still has it's stock Sway-bar;-)
    the 1990 3.0 I traded off was missing it's front sway bar...

    Defiantly a solid trade! And i don't really care for the pre-79 trucks.

    Update, three days later.
    the Shifter needs a bushing/spent a few hours getting it mounted properly.
    Likely not the OEM/Stock Shifter.Fixed the Ball-popping off/out-deal/was out when I got it.
    I can now shift properly with no worry of the Shifter arm/ball coming out of it's socket...

    this 18R-C has Good to Excellent compression on all four cylinders.......
    the coil's contact's had to be sanded/coil OHM'd out fine anyway/now has good arc/Spark.
    the seats were held in with lag/deck screws.......old seat nuts were shot/had to drill/punch and bolt through the cab.
    the seats are from a car likely/drivers seat has Lumbar;-}

    frame is straight and I can find all four gears+reverse... playing with the Shifter.
    I Might hear the engine run today;-}

    top gear was a diesel.......and I would have wanted it/before they split the frame dropping it atop a building being blasted to the ground...I would not have parted with a Toyota diesel!!!

    old Bastard just fired fine with a bit of smoke/from sitting I have no real idea how long.......
    With a bit of gas down the Carburetor of course...
    one thing after another with a pickup this old;-}
    I don't think it's fuel pump is working/or a filter is plugged.
    now to the Old-rust-in-the-tank deal.

    Do I fix it or Just buy new filters and blow it out from time to time;-?
    this stupid tank has a plug in the bottom/good for cleaning I guess.
    and getting the gas stolen.

    anyone know which way advances timing?
    on this 18r-c when I loosen the nut/do I turn the distributor towards the fan to advance?
    or do I turn it towards the firewall to advance?

    one thing after another/I've driven it around the block but still had to work on the Shifter.
    Shifter is likely not the original or correct.
    the bolts that were holding it to the transmission were shouldered and it was spaced to compensate for the shoulder.
    I replaced the bolts and Tapp'd it down tight with a big flat head and small hammer before torquing them down.
    lot's of play on the mounting of it...till tightened down...
    nice and solid now/the ball is far enough down in the socket that it will not pop back out again.
    and I ordered the bushing that goes on the ball./hard to find locally/ordered on Ebay.
    won't drive it much till that tiny plastic cup of a bushing comes/I ordered a pair for the sake of it.

    no shift ball/So I made one out of a Snooker Ball...
    had to reuse a plastic pedal from an improper gas pedal assembly/she only had the rod to throttle with.
    drove out the pin that held the pedal to the rod and J-B Welded it to the 73's throttle "rod"/up-side-down!
    looks good now anyway/can't tell it went in flipped up-side-down...the 73 had no securing-pin-hole.......

    anyone trade me a Pancake/air pan for this ash-tray?
    the tray looks to never have been used/or if it ever was is was cleaned by a Nun...

    used uv set clear glue/adhesive to repair a chip and an abrasion...
    drilled the chip to get the glue in with a hand vacuum pump and improvised suction cup.from an elbow of rubber pipe...
    not perfect but very sound...this adhesive repairs terrariums and set's up super quick in sunlight...

I still need an OEM/Stock 18R-c Air pan...but I put a Curt hitch on it and found a Spare 14" wheel from a 4-dr Cutlass in Pick-N-Pull... anyone close to Sacramento want to swap/trade rims/wheels? blue.jpg 1.JPG

    Order from rockauto. Moog Ball joints are about $100 for all 4.

    I got all my steering parts from autopartsexpress. was the only place that stocked ALL the steering parts, for the best pricing of doing it all in one order. Everything was Moog brand (Reboxed Sankei "555"). Paid $225 for all 4 ball joints, all 4 tie rod ends, adjusters, idler and pitman arms, free shipping.

    Seems like your trade could be good. As much as I love my 3rd gen pickup, I think the older classics are more "valuable" since there are so many 80s/90s trucks still around.

    do it for peace of mind. i did everything one day except for the pitman arm because i couldn't find a socket big enough - just those parts improved the stupid sloppy steering a tad, but the pitman arm made a HUGE difference.

    R u saying ur tie rod boots? If so, a cheaper way will be to get "universal" boots from prothane or energy suspension.. I got all new boots for all ball joints & tie rods on my truck. Will save u alot of money if your tie rods are still good.
