Not sure if your talking to me? But I plan on wrapping mine. But if it doesn't work out with the wrap I'll base it and clear it along with the factory gauge bezel after removing texture and filling the groove where the fake stitching is.
Is that out of an RV? Dolphin? Guy in town was selling one but it looked bad I use to want that pad with the long tray pocket wanna see it when your done
looks great! will definitely be doin this to mine at some point. did you just paint the plastic part over the cluster?
He may have used duplicolors interior trim paint on that part . I used it on my whole dash holds up good ... I like the look of the vinyl tho
yeah i thought it looked like paint. a friend of mine did his whole dash in his car with that stuff and its held up great for about 7 or 8 years.
Yes I painted that with Krylon Fusion Black. Appreciate the comments guys. It is holding up great. Only thing I wish is that I had smoothed the surface more as I can see some lines under the material but it isn't so bad for me to pull it up and redo, just trying to improve the process for anyone else wanting to try. 22R88
Here is a link to when I painted the interior last year. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/interior-electronics-62/dash-pad-install-paint-pics-11941/ 22R88
I spray-painted my dash mat with primer and black. It took a while to cure and for the smell to go away but it's still holding its color in the sun. Your mods are way better. I like them both.
not many posts in this thread for a while, but figured i'd post my stuff on here. went a slightly different route. it was all cracked up like many dash pads are/were. mine has the cover but was bothering me. so i unbolted it, removed the vents.... when i had to replace my heater core.... and took my knife out and went to town on it. this is a pic of the first 5min. afterwards i kinda just went to town, with it and scraped and ground away the rest of the stuff. i was going to have it sandblasted then powdercoated but i still wasn't 100% which route i was going to take so i went with painting it with some engine enamel for now. i didn't even primer it but i did make it cleaned the surface and used some alcohol to get any oil off me handling it one last time. i wanted to use rust-oleum flat black but i was out n didn't make the trip to the store... i redid all the weatherstripping to the vents and to the hvac system. vents sit nice n flush. sadly i cracked 1 vent while it was sitting in my garage. and without the padding there is a gap between the dashpad between the dashpad section and the gauge cluster section/cover. which i can prolly fix with weatherstripping. gotta replace cluster bulbs anyways cuz 1 is out. also, obviously there are a few holes here and there... i gotta get a few plugs at the store. overall i'm happy. it's a bit glossy-er than i want and haven't really tried driving without the cover off.... but if it becomes an issue, ima hit it with a coat of flat black
